This was essentially a new name for the 105th Lanarkshire Rifle Volunteers, or Glasgow Highlanders. The 10th LRV was a short-lived name; as in they changed again to be known as the 5th (Glasgow Highland) Volunteer Battalion, Highland Light Infantry in December 1887.

The Glasgow Evening post of 31 March 1884:

The annual inter-regimental football match under Rugby rules between the 1st L.R.V. and the 10th L.R.V. will be played at Burnbank on Saturday first. There are some famous Rugby men in both teams, and the match should be a good one.
